Methodology
How we handle data and content
Transparency is the product. Here is exactly where numbers come from and how we treat them.
Market data
- Source: CoinGecko API (prices, market caps, supply, volume, categories, trending). Sentiment: Alternative.me Crypto Fear & Greed Index.
- Refresh: data is cached on our server and refreshed every ~2 minutes for market tables (configurable). Charts and categories refresh less often.
- Labels: every panel shows source and age. Data older than the stale threshold is marked delayed. If live sources fail, an offline sample is shown and clearly labelled — it is never presented as live.
- Not execution prices: aggregated prices can differ from the price you would get on any exchange.
Derived metrics
| Metric | Definition |
|---|---|
| Market cap | Price × circulating supply (as reported by the source) |
| FDV | Price × max supply (or total supply where max is undefined) |
| Float | Circulating ÷ max (or total) supply |
| Turnover | 24h volume ÷ market cap — a rough liquidity proxy; volume can be inflated |
| Data quality badge | Completeness of key fields + turnover. Not an investment or safety rating |
| Breadth | Share of top-100 assets up over 24h |
Educational content
Lessons state an objective, analogy, worked example, misconception and sources, plus a last-reviewed date. Regulatory and security topics are reviewed monthly; fundamentals quarterly. Historical price series used in simulations are approximate and labelled as such.
What we don't do
We don't publish buy/sell/hold calls, price targets or personalised recommendations, and we don't accept payment for coverage or rankings.
